The Salt Mine
A fairytale of a salt mine. A story of a block of salt. A reminder of a bygone age. A journey of the soul. That’s Turda. A history built by time and people.

Memories from blog :
About love, spring, life and a branch of willow,
Hi, Mala
I’ve been to the Hallein salt mine near Salzburg. This one looks way bigger, if my memory is good. Thanks for the memories.
Hi Paul. I’m glad that my post here, gets up memories. In fact, there are five mines, connected each other and all have an age that goes up to Roman era. After the Roman withdrawal from 3 century, Turda salt mine had several ‘masters’ (notable are the Hungarians, with a great development under the Habsburg or Austrian rule ). It is a true museum of salt there. The name of mines, kept until now, remember the Austrian occupation(Rudolf, Maria-Tereza, Ghizela, Katalin, Joseph).
That is fascinating. Maybe I will be able to see them someday, if we visit our friends in Salzburg again. I know it is still a long way from there.
Yes. It is but , it worth doing this trip.
I had heard about this, but never had seen this.. Thanx! 🙂
My pleasure, Som !
